“Krista is an outstanding instructor and I highly recommend this course. I had researched DONA training programs carefully and was very excited to take this course with Krista as her philosophy and dedication to doula work, support for parents and babies, and her knowledge of family dynamics matched what I was looking for in a training program.

Even with my great expectations, Krista far exceeded them. She was incredibly inspiring as a role model. Her manner was engaging, kind, and attuned to whatever we brought forward. She demonstrated respect and inclusivity and created a warm, psychologically safe environment.”

Krista Maltais Postpartum Doula Trainer, Doula Mentor

Hi, I’m Krista Maltais

Over the past 17+ years, I’ve worked with thousands of perinatal families, mentored hundreds of aspiring postpartum doulas, and continue to be a passionate advocate for family support!

Since I was a child, I’ve always LOVED babies and knew I wanted to work with families.

In my adult life, I have worked with newborns (including many multiples!), siblings and parents in a variety of settings both in the United States and abroad. I have a strong background in parent-child attachment, family dynamics, growth and development as well as family support. Additionally, I have the unique perspective of working as a postpartum doula both before and after having my own children.

Most recently, I published my first book titled “My Baby, Our Doula, and Me”; this book teaches families about the many ways postpartum doulas provide care, features realistic expectations for older siblings about their new baby and provides professional strategies for parents to utilize during this special time of family transition.

I bring my educational background, professional observations, and personal experiences into each of my workshops and mentorship experiences.

I would be honored to support you through the DONA International Postpartum Doula Certification process and hope to have the opportunity to meet you!

Krista was a wonderful leader and mentor. She was professional, experienced, and so helpful and warm.

The is workshop was very good, but the trainer made it excellent. Krista was honest and engaging. She was very thorough throughout the content of the material. She was detailed, engaging, humorous, honest, and caring. I felt very confident that her thoughtful words were sincere and came from a place of deep knowledge and experience.

Professional Background

In 2015, during it’s inaugural year, I was honored to receive the DONA International designation of Advanced Postpartum Doula (AdvPCD); I remain one of only four holding this credential within the organization. I am also one of only fourteen Certified Postpartum Doula Trainers (PDT) through DONA International as well as an Advanced Lactation Consultant (ALC) through the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Family Studies from the University of New Hampshire and have worked as an Adjunct Professor at Great Bay College in the Early Childhood Education Department.

After being a nanny for multiple years, I began working as a postpartum doula in 2006; I was a member of the Seacoast Doula Group for six years before co-founding the Great Bay Doulas in 2011 and in 2018, I founded Relief - Parenting Respite & Resource Center in Hampton, New Hampshire.
